Back to school time is fast approaching here in New Jersey and that means so is Fall/Holiday family picture season. Fall is one of my favorite times of year. I love all our fall family traditions of apple picking, jumping in piles of raked leaves, bonfires, and yes…fall clothes! Who doesn’t love the way they feel in a brand new outfit especially on the first day of school?

I frequently get asked what to wear for family photos. In order to create interest in your family images it is important to coordinate outfits without everyone wearing the same thing. You can do this easily by adding layers, textures (denium, tweed, ruffles) and accessories! Here’s a little sample of some fall outfits put together using these simple tips.

I absolutely loved this mini-session. Mom did a fabulous job styling her girls with Crewcuts and Target none the less. Anyone who knows me knows that I just adore Crewcuts clothing. I picked up some balloons and flowers for her session and lucky me they matched perfectly. Last time I photographed this family I was in my first year of business and the youngest, little A, wasn’t even born yet. Boy does time fly. It was so much fun to see them again…they are super sweet little girls and beautiful too!

I first met and photographed this family right before (and I mean right before) I moved to New Jersey last year. I still remember it was freezing that day and these kiddos went outside barefoot. Well as luck would have it, it was 95+degrees the day of our mini-session. Mom and Dad already has 3 beautiful gallery wrapped canvases from our last session so for this one Mom wanted a playful fun-loving session to show each of her children’s personalilites. They were so cute together…I am quite sure they have some sibling rivalries now and then however I could tell they really love each other. I have so many great sibling shots of them…I seriously couldn’t get them to take a bad one if I tried. L, D and J you did awesome! Here are a just a few of my favorites.

I shot my first wedding! Thanks to Galina I had the opportunity to second shoot for one of her weddings last Friday. It was a lot of fun…a lot more work than chasing even a family of toddlers around… but really a lot of fun! My job as a second shooter was to focus on the groom and to cover the wedding day from another view/perspective. I have a ton of images from the day to edit and will post more soon. I was really loving black and white on these.

Oliver is 8 months old already. He still follows me from room to room and lays at my feet. I can’t even run upstairs to grab some laundry without his help. He loves to play fetch with his beloved tennis ball yet he pretty much devours the rest of his toys in a day. So far it’s just his toys and so we are good with that. It’s hard not to spoil him because he is just soooo darn cute! L♥ve him.

I had the opportuntiy to meet some new little ones for a mini session while in Cincinnati. It was such a hot night. Okay it was beyond hot! Just look at their beautiful eyes and gorgeous red hair.

Speaking of red heads…I totally forgot. If you haven’t heard of this book and you have or know someone with a red head child you might want to check it out. It’s a book with tons of pictures and facts about red heads written by a Mom with you guessed it a red head. Oh and my work is published in the book as one of the contributing photographers. I know I know I have been absent from my blog for way to long. What can I say? Summer has been keeping me busy with my kiddos home full time, trips to the shore, pool time, and a vacation to Indy/Cincy to visit with family and friends. I promise I will make it up to you with a post or two this week.

Up first this adorable little guy at just 9 days old. He slept like a dream. I love his silky dark head of hair! Mom and Dad were great at stepping back and letting little “D” and I do our thing.

Mothers Day is fast approaching and every year my husband and now my kids ask me what I want..and I always answer “pictures of my children”…hands down! This year my daughter was game. woo hoo. I bought this dress for her almost 2 years ago at a boutique in NYC and it just now fits. One afternoon last week she tried it on and we ran out in our backyard to try some “test” shots for my big Mother’s Day shoot. Wouldn’t you know it, it’s the times that we don’t even get ready let alone comb her hair that I love the most. She was having so much fun modeling and coming up with her own poses. At one point she even said to me let’s go inside and get all your props and take more pictures. Hello? Am I dreaming??? She knows how much her mommy loves pictures. Here are a few….okay there are more than a few…I just couldn’t decide. I love them all. Oh how I adore my little girl.
